GAZ Realty to Host Ground-Breaking Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Newark Airport Plaza
JERICHO, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GAZ Realty, Inc. (www.gazrealty.com) a developer and operator of “Superstation" and "Airport Plazas” celebrated the start of development Thursday morning of the first multi-service, “green” airport gas plaza in the nation opening next year at Newark Liberty International Airport. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place signifying the kick off of the construction.
Present at the opening were Mr. John Jacoby, Newark Liberty International Airport General Manager, Mr. Peter Kibildis, 7-Eleven, Inc.'s real estate representative, Mr. Brian Perone of Clean Energy and other officials from The Port Authority of NY & NJ and GAZ Realty.
The services provided at Newark Airport Plaza (www.newarkairportplaza.com) will be a gas & diesel fueling station offering alternative "green" fuels (Bio-diesel), a 7-Eleven® store, a two-bay car wash, light auto repair and non-exclusive rights for towing at the airport.
The plaza, which will be located near the on-ramp to Terminal A, is estimated to be open within six months and will accommodate some of the 25,000 airport employees and more than 33 million people that visit each year. In addition, the plaza will service the cargo staff as well as the trucks and fleet sales from Port Elizabeth and the surrounding commercial businesses.
"As the first green airport plaza in the country, we are positioned to offer not only products and services to our travelers, airport staff, taxis and limousines, but can do it in ways that benefit the environment. We have a captive audience and will offer both value and convenience to our customers", said George Abi Zeid, president & CEO of GAZ Realty, Inc.
Clean Energy (NASDAQ: CLNE), the nation's largest provider of natural gas for transportation, is also in discussions with GAZ Realty to build a potential CNG fueling station on the property in the future. “Clean Energy looks forward to working with GAZ Realty to build and operate a CNG station at Newark Liberty Airport. It will provide a cleaner, less expensive fuel option for taxis and shuttle fleets serving the airport and the New York metropolitan area", commented Mr. Brian Persone of Clean Energy.
This will be the first 7-Eleven store to open on airport premises in the United States. The 3,200-square-foot convenience store will be offering 24/7 service, fresh and hot foods, Big Gulp® and Slurpee® drinks, grilled Big Bite® hot dogs, its proprietary 7-Select snacks and beverages, prepaid and financial services. There will be 50 parking spaces at the plaza with approximately 20 available for the store.
"In addition to Newark, GAZ Realty is in final stages of lease negotiations or RFP awarded for a number of major airports around the country (i.e. Tulsa International, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International, JFK International and Southwest Florida International,." added Mr. Stefano Pascucci, VP Sales and Business Development for GAZ Realty, Inc.
